Suffolk Coastal Torpedoes Water Polo

Founded in 2007 and formerly part of Deben Swimming Club, then forming our own independant club, Suffolk Coastal Torpedoes is one of the most progressive water polo clubs in the East Region. We started with a small number of youngsters trying mini-polo and have grown into a club where several of our players have gone on to compete in regional and national teams. Compared to other clubs we have a large number of girls who play water polo at various levels.


We train at Deben Pool, Woodbridge and Crown Pools, Ipswich and always welcome new junior players of any age, both boys and girls.

We also run a non competative Adult section, for anyone that wants to play for fitness and fun.

A reminder of our  AGM, PLEASE make an effort to attend as we need to have as many members represented and ensure we have a quorate!  Agenda below, the AGM usually last no more than an hour.
Playing members under 16 are welcome to attend but only club members over 16 can vote on any resolution and election of officers. (we will be in the conservatory)

Reminder Water Polo Sessions summer term 2026

A reminder Water Polo sessions start back next week.   With Deben Pool closure all our sessions will be at Crown Pools, Ipswich 
Tuesdays from 14th April 
Please note we will be splitting the pool between 8:15pm and 9pm – two lanes for Adult swim training and the rest for Juniors Water Polo training
Juniors –  8:15pm to 9pm
Two lanes available for Adult Water Polo Swim Training  8:15pm to 9pm
Adult Water Polo Training 9pm to 9:30pm  – all players must have swam for at least 15 mins before 9pm
Adult group please note – We are expecting you to manage yourselves for the Swim Training portion of the session as the coaches will be focused on the Juniors.  It is up you decide how much of the session you want to swim but you must enter the water before 8:45pm to attend  the Water polo session.
Once you are in the pool we expect you to be swimming lengths only.
No player under 18 can cross over to the part of the pool with the Junior session. 
 
Fridays from 17th April format not changed 
Inter players 8:00pm – 8:45pm
Juniors 8:45pm – 9:30pm
Reminders
  • NO MOBILE Phones or any other device capable of taking photos to be used in the changing rooms they must be in bags or pockets.
  • Inter and Junior parents can you remind your players that after a session players should get showered and get changed promptly in individual cublices, quietly, not shouting out to each other or messing about.

Easter Break, Summer Term Arrangements whilst Deben Pool is closed.

Our Spring term is coming to a close our last sessions before the Easter break are

Tuesday 24th March at Deben Pool, Woodbridge
Friday 27th of March at Crown Pools, Ipswich.

Summer Term Arrangements

Two weeks ago Deben Pool informed us that Deben Pool would be closing from April until mid July for reroofing and Solar Panel installation. We have managed to secure 1 hour 15 mins at Crown Pools Ipswich on Tuesday evenings from 8:15pm until 9:30pm.

Friday sessions are unchanged .

We decided to utilise this slot to support both our under 16 and Over 16 player groups by using two lanes for Over 16s swim training and the remainder of the pool for Under 16S water polo training for the first 45 minutes and then over 16s get the whole pool for the last 30 mins

So our summer term programme will start on Tuesday 14th April and runs until Tuesday 14th Jul 2026 but there will be no water polo sessions on 26th May and 29th May – May half term

Tuesdays @ Crown Pools, Ipswich – (subject to contract)
8:15 pm until 9pm – under 16 Juniors Water Polo Training – 6 lanes
8:15pm until 9pm – over 16 Juniors and Adult swim training – 2 lanes
9pm until 9:30pm – over 16 Juniors and Adult Water Polo – Whole Pool

Fridays @ Crown Pools, Ipswich (no change)
8pm-8:15pm – Intermediate training – whole pool
8:45pm until 9:30pm – Junior Training – whole pool

We are aware that for the younger players on Tuesday this is a later time, could you let Linda and I know if you do not wish to attend the session at Crown Pools.

Also if any of the under 16s who just train on Fridays would be interested in joining the Tues sessions (there would be increase in monthly subscriptions) let us know.

Over 16s and Adult Sessions throughout Summer Break
We are hopeful that once the work at Deben completes to secure our 8pm-9pm slot back at Deben on Tuesdays and run this session through the summer. We have requested the slot from Deben so will email out details when confirmed.

Junior Sessions in September
We will be requesting our normal slots back at Deben for the Autumn term and it is our intention to return to Deben Pool on Tuesday evenings. I do not expect that will be confirmed until the work has been completed.

Friday 13th No Training due to match and Half Term Break

Friday 13th Crown Pools SC Torpedoes v Colchester u16s 8pm
Our u16s team (players born  after 1st Jan 2011)  will be hosting Colchester tomorrow evening so there will be no normal training
As ever all members are welcome to come and support the team.
Half Term Break 
A reminder that there will be no training sessions next week as it schools half term.
