20th February 2013 British Swimming has appointed Graeme Thompson as the National Performance Director for Women’s Water Polo. Thompson brings with him vast experience in elite sport and managing programmes from grass roots to elite sport level as the former Performance Director for the Rugby Football League (RFL) and most recently as Performance Advisor with UK Sport for a variety of Olympic and Paralympic and am looking to drive British Water Polo to be competing with the best in 2016…. Iceni Under-16 Girls compete in first London League tournament

Last month the Iceni Under-16 Girls team played their first London league tournament and demonstrated the progress they have achieved in the last year. The three-way tournament against Croydon and Ealing was held on 27th January with the teams playing each other twice. Iceni women’s water polo club celebrate first senior win!
Iceni women’s senior team are celebrating their first win after two years of competition in British Water Polo League and London League.
Iceni faced their long-standing rivals West London Penguin in a London League tournament last weekend. Penguin narrowly won their last BWPL encounter 12-9, so Iceni hopes were high.
In a tense first half, Iceni won the swim off and pressed the attack before scoring the first goal. Penguin countered and honours were even at half-time with the score 2-2. After the interval, Iceni again won the swim off and started to dominate possession. Penguin conceded several exclusions and Iceni took advantage for a 4-2 lead. With less than two minutes remaining the East Anglian side utilised their strength on the bench and put the game beyond doubt with another goal.
