This month SC Torpedoes ran an Aquatic Helpers Course for 15 of our 13-16 age group players.
This is part of the ASA accredited training programme. This workshop is designed to give our players a basic understanding of coaching techniques, explain how to watch for general poolside safety issues and understanding how people develop skills and general good poolside safety practices. It is also great for the young person’s Curriculum Vitae and provides a step up into the ASA/ UKCC Level 1 Courses
The course ran over two nights, the 1st evening in a classroom session at Beacon Hill School learning the theory. The 2nd night was more exciting with our delegates working pool side with some of younger players putting that theory into practice
Thank you to Sue for giving up her time to run the course, our delegates for taking the course and big thank you to our younger players and (and parents for bringing them) for supporting fellow club members to gain this qualification.
Let hope we will see some these newly trained Aquatic Helpers helping as regulars supporting the younger player training sessions.
